Resistor values are often written in shorthand, without a decimal place, to avoid mistakes. The letters R, K and M are used to identify the magnitude of the resistor value. When reading the code, replace the letter with a decimal point and multiply by 1 for an R; 1,000 for a K; 1,000,000 for an M. The following examples should help to make this clear:
270R = 260 Ohms
5K6 = 5.6 KOhms = 5,600 Ohms
10K = 10 KOhms = 10,000 Ohms
1M0 = 1.0 MOhm = 1,000 KOhms = 1,000,000 Ohms
3M2 = 3.2 MOhm = 3,200 KOhms = 3,200,000 Ohms
